Room was hardly a deluxe double. Very small. Items require maintenance. (TV reception, Loose toilet seat) Despite this the Reception staff were very friendly and the service staff left the room impeccably presented daily.

The Front dest team were very courteous and prompt, and we liked the close proximity to Paddington Underground station. The room was small but comfortale and maintained well. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and overall it has been a good experience.

Overall an average stay, not good but not bad either. Just two real problems... the hotels "restaurent" isn't. They sell a minimal range of bar snacks from a very poorly stocked "bar". We asked for a wake up call at 7:15am. 7:30am I phoned reception said we never got our wake up call and was I offered no any explination or appology.
Having said that, the staff were polite, everything was well kept and we would stay here again as the location is very good and price isn't to bad if you book online.

Nice rooms shame about the Bathroom barely room to stand unfortunately. Apart from that great place to stay. Unfortunately not delux.
Great location, not great for business travel

The room was incredibly small I could barely open my suitcase - and I am a light packer!!! There was absolutely no room to work at the desk which half was taken up by the TV.
It was a big bed but there would be no room for 2 people to manage in a room like this.
the price was right though and the location is fabulous but I will make sure I know the size of the room from now on.
Convenient for the Heathrow Express

Good location, but it is a bit of a hike to Paddington -- a brisk 10 mins walk or so with cases. Staff on the desk were lovely and there 24 hours, which was convenient as my flight in was late so I didn't get there until gone 1am. Couldn't connect to the internet but didn't stay there long enough to try to get that resolved. Overall, would recommend
Overpriced

The public areas in the hotel were bright, cheerful and clean. Room allocated was very small and dark. Would have been useless if guests had more luggage than a weekend bag.
Bathroom bijou also and would not be suitable for larger guests. TV did not work at first but was quickly fixed. bath plug stuck, reported but not fixed.
On the plus side a good breakfast and helpful reception staff.

What I liked the most was that staff smiled, answered questions and were kind,- they seemed to do what they could in order to make our stay pleasant.
But you need to have some of the rooms redone....loads of small things that needs repairing, a bit of paint - a bit of buckets that actually can open... and so on...you should take your time to go through the rooms - it would take so little to make the impression of the place even better.
Why does this hotel chain always over book?

This is now the third time that either I or my work colleague have booked a Shaftesbury Premier Hotel. On each occasion the hotel has been overbooked and we have had to be transferred to a sister hotel. The excuse this time was a system crash. Sorry, but I don't believe that. The reason seems to be that they always overbook and then try to reassign you to another hotel. This is infuriating and why I would not stay there again.
That said, the quality of the hotel and the rooms was quite acceptable, just not the hotel that I had booked.
MUST DO LONDON AGAIN

Horrible, Horrible Service
JonathanGreen, Party type: Family with older children - Posted: Monday 5th July 2010
The service at the front desk was atrocious. Not only did they not have our reservation (their "system crashed"), we were late to a very important appointment, because WE had to verify our own booking. Then my kids were given a key to a room where people were already staying and when we returned later that night our kid's key for the new room didn't work.
All around good.

Great location, quiet street, clean rooms and hotel. Friendly and helpful staff.
One downside was the noise from the cleaning staff. At 8:30 in the morning, I didn't appreciate being woken up by clanging of rubbish bins and slamming of drawers and doors.

Room was quite small but perfectly adequate. Room was well maintained during our stay. We didn't eat/drink there so can't comment on that. Hotel location is great, very close to Hyde Park and convenient for buses and the Tube

I cannot believe this hotel is deemed to be a 4*. The room was very tiny and the tv didn't work. The decor was tired and the whole room in need of a major refurbishment. The hotel is in a good location but I wouldn't stay there again!
