Great London Experience

The helpful staff left me with a good first impression of the hotel. The actual size of the room was a bit of a culture shock, since I'm used to generally more spacious accomodations in the US. The staff at reception were extremely helpful, remembering my name, providing an ironing board on request, helpful suggestions on local sights, etc. Overall, a wonderful experience!

We were very dissapointed to find out that, despite the fact that we had booked the room in the main hotel, when we arrived we were told that they were going to transfer us to the sister hotel which was farther away from the location of the original hotel. It is important that you get your room in the hotel where you thought you were going to stay to begin with. Eventually we were given a room in the hotel where we initially booked but it took some discussion and voicing of our dissapointment.

This is quite a nice hotel, ideal for a short break. It's in an excellent location if you like a walk through the parks. We walked to Oxford Street from the hotel, it was a fair distance however. It is also only a couple of minutes, if that, from the tube station.
We had standard room which was modern and in good condition, the only downside was the bathroom was tiny!
We had a pleasant stay. My only quarrels were we were disturbed when we had the do not disturb light on. And we were charged £69 when we got there, only to be told when checking out we should've been charged £99. Simple mistakes but shouldn't really happen. I felt £99 was a bit steep for what the hotel offered.
A real success

What a great place to stay! Lovely historic reception rooms and perfect location for seeing London's sights. Stylish, clean and comfortable bedroom & bathroom but, and this is the only negative point, pretty cramped. For visits when you'll spend the day out and about, it's not a problem, but don't expect to spend any time in the bedroom.

Unfortunately when I arrived at this hotel there had been a mix up with bookings and the hotel was overbooked. However, I cannot stress enough how good the staff were as they transferred me to another hotel within their group immediately. They also provided a complimentary breakfast on one of my days of stay and a free cab to the other hotel. I was transferred to the Notting Hill hotel and there the staff were excellent. So my review and ratings actually refer to their Notting Hill hotel in Prince's Square.

I opted for the deluxe single room, on the basis that this provided more space. I would hate to have been booked into the standard single room. The bed just fitted into the room and no real wardrobe, rather a small cupboard, to end my experience no water for a shower or bath in the mornig. No evening meals and location was not good for decent restaurants. One night was enough.

We had a "Superior Double Room" which I would have classified as a single room with a double bed in it. The bed occupied most of the room & there was little space to move around. Also, the bathroom was "compact". We had a lovely view of a wall through the window.

The bathroom was tiny. I am not huge but I found it so cramped I had to keep the door open to enable me to use the sink to wash and shave.
The toilet was badly placed, squashed right up against a wall, making it almost impossible to use.
The lock on my door didn't work.
As I was getting into bed at 11.30 the lights in my room went out. It was so dark I couldn't see the numbers on the 'phone so I had to get dressed and go downstairs to reception.
I was told there had been a power cut and an electrician was on the way and advised to sit and wait in the lounge area.
I was still sitting there an hour later, so I asked at reception if they knew when the lights would be fixed. I was astonished to be told they'd been fixed 30 minutes before!
But no one had the courtesy or common sense to seek out the people waiting in the lounge area to tell them they could return to their rooms. Very annoying.
Then...at six a.m. I was rudely woken-up by the ' beep beep ' of a lorry reversing into a service area immediately under my window. The driver then proceeded to noisily unload his goods, blithely ignoring the fact that he was outside a hotel in which, at that time of the morning, there was every chance the people inside might be sleeping.

very good accomodation and service. The hotel is very clean and modern. Standard double room little on the small side so not for the larger person. Location quiet for london and opposite Hyde Park. Small cafe around the corner so you can get breakfast for £5.00. Tube station within 2 mins walk.

The magnificant original Edwardian decor of the Royale Grand Hotel has been very well maintained while the staff, who are both friendly and polite, provide a high quality of service that match the splendor of their surroundings. All in all our stay was very pleasant
