The location of this hotel was excellent only 2 min walk too the tube station. The staff were friendly and very helpful, The room was very clean with a nice size double bed, the bathroom was beautiful. The only drawback was the lift was very small if we had any more than two people in our party you would not fit in the lift.

The light above the tea facility was not working. The towel rail in the bathroom was not working although was fixed quickly.
We had to wait at Breakfast for a table to be cleared and then there was very little choice, and the toaster was pathetic.
The walls must be very thin as the lady next door made a phone call at 3.30am, that we heard all of!

My room, although booked a bigger room for two people, was small even for me with virtually no luggage. The breakfast is poor and the same every morning. The TV didn't work cause the wiring was faulty and a technician had to come and fiddle with it.

Everything was 5* about this hotel apart from 2 things
1) It is a 45 minute walk to London's night life
2) The bathroom door conflicts with your room door when open
These are not so much major issues but the only faults I could see with it, otherwise great stay!

I booked a Deluxe Double room for 1 night at the Shaftesbury Kensington Hotel. What I got was a tiny room in the Kensington Town House across the road. This room had just enough space for a small double bed, with no more than 18" of space around it. My wife and I had to take it in turn to get dressed! There was no wardrobe, just a few coat hangers. The bathroom was similarly tiny with hardly room to turn around. In the morning the plumbing was a constant noise which prevented any lie-in. When I complained at the reception I was offered an alternative room in the basement with no light and a strong smell of damp and mold.

The last time I stayed here I was made to wait in the bar (all be it with a complimentary drink),for twenty minutes at 23.00 while they got a room ready. .

The recent refit is surface only, so expect a worn-out mattress.
However, I could load/unload the car straight into the lobby (outside congestion hours), the air-con, TV and Shower worked (club room) and there was a fridge - other hotels should listen and learn.
Just change the mettress when you re-fit!! (AND BUY A GOOD ONE!!!)

Room is spacious and very clean. Nice bathroom and bed as shown on their web. However, air conditioning doesn't seem working after had it on for many hours. Kind of stuffy because my room was 2 levels below ground.
